Yellow Concealer & Eyebrows like Eugene Levy
1998 makeup and 2022 makeup are two entirely different ballgames.
I was talking about makeup the other day on instagram. Which is really funny because I was so so so bad at makeup all through high school and probably into college.
It was 1998, and I was on top of the world because I finally got bewbs and some long legs. I was a late bloomer and never had any interest in makeup or boyfriends. But that summer something changed. I found myself very interested in making myself prettier on account of my braces and missing tooth, which no makeup could hide. At Target, I found this yellow stick that covered dark under-eyes and fell in love. Because what’s better than a little yellow concealer? A LOT OF YELLOW CONCEALER. I then used blue mascara and light green eyeliner, so as to look like a genteel raccoon on its nightly walk to the Go-Go bar. Except it was just everyday wear. I was wearing this “unique” look to school and to the movies on Friday night, it was such a versatile vibe! And I was generous with my makeup knowledge. I did my sister's makeup and man, I have got to find some pictures of my work. My saving grace was that unlike my peers, I left my eyebrows alone and now they’re as thick as Eugene Levy’s. So even though I looked like circus talent for a time, the Lord was merciful to me.
Later, I would forgo most makeup because I was in the thick of mothering and nothing can cover up not sleeping for 3 months to 7 years when it’s baby after baby. Only until after Pruett was born 8 years ago, did I take interest in learning about makeup, what looks good for my face, and why it’s essential to use brow powder! Yes, an exclamation. It’s that important. Trust me.
I watched makeup tutorials and I learned from my friends on the internet what to do. At long last, I have a makeup routine that takes me 5 minutes or so, depending on what I’m doing that day.
So here’s what I use:
Every morning I use a gua sha stone to massage my face and drain the lymph nodes plus gets rid of under those pesky eye bags. https://a.co/d/crcWycS . You’ll want to use an essential oil like the CBD rose serum or Frankincense so it glides smoothly!
Foundation (color light // put it on with a sponge): https://amzn.to/3PTdvPa
Under eye concealer (color // fair): I dab in the corner of my inner eye DOWN, and then the corner of my outer eye UP. https://amzn.to/3KejUTH
Bronzer stick: https://shopstyle.it/l/bKNtG I use this to contour under my cheekbone and on the top of my head. Use this filter to help you figure out where: https://www.instagram.com/ar/252596730330107
Powder Blush - I’ve had this one for ages - it’s Beauty Counter and the color is flamingo. You need literally the tiniest amount!
Brown tent is powder from an eyeshadow palette & lasts forever: https://amzn.to/3AHSoL0
Lip pencil is brown: https://amzn.to/3R5LNPT
At the end, I use Savvy Minerals powder to set everything in. The brushes, sponges are from there as well. Of course, good skin comes from within and the Inner Beauty Collagen is changing my life! Or at least my fine lines. https://bit.ly/3KjDA8z
I hope these help you in your journey for cleaner products. Or at least I hope you got a couple laughs about how I was an incredible makeup artist in high school. And listen, you don’t have to throw away all your things but the next time you buy some makeup, read the label and try to make the next best choice.
